Alun Michael MP
Chair, Christian Socialist Movement
(CSM)
"By
loving my neighbour as myself I have chosen to get involved
in politics.
Understanding, engaging and contributing
to the way we are governed may give us more of an opportunity
to ensure that a just and peaceful way is found for us to
live together.
I am currently the Chair of the Christian
Socialist Movement, which supports a Christian witness within
the Labour Party. We also work with Government to help build
a society that reflects our Christian values and goals."
Andrew Selous MP
Challenging the secular world view
"Far
too many Christians leave God behind as they start work on
Monday morning. But as long as my constituents re-elect me,
I will pursue my Christian vocation in the Westminster Parliament.
And I hope that more Christians
will join me in being salt and light in political parties,
and challenging the secular worldview.
I have contributed to
Parliamentary debates on the persecution of Christians abroad,
third world development, Christian broadcasting and protection
of time for families to be together at weekends."
Hannah Hedges
Youngest Candidate
"I
first got involved in politics while I was still at school,
being elected to the UK Youth Parliament. Amongst many things
it taught me that real power for change comes from the 'inside'
of an organisation. I didn't want to be an 'outsider any longer,
so aged 16, I joined the Liberal Democrats.
At the last General Election I was
the Party's youngest Parliamentary candidate, in Hitchin and
Harpenden (my home town). This gave me real opportunity to
address issues facing local people."
